I would like to introduce a temple near my house, Nakayama Hokekyo-ji Temple.

If you exit the north exit of Shimosa-Nakayama Station on the JR Sobu Line (Local train) and go straight through the roundabout, you will find the “Sando” to Nakayama Hokekyo-ji Temple.

参道さんどうというのは、お寺

みちのことです。
The road to the temple or shrine is called “Sando”.

Walking up the gentle slope, you will come to the “Walking up the gentle slope, you will come to the “Sanmon”(①).

The “Sanmon” is the entrance to the temple.

After passing through the “Sanmon”, small temples are lined up on both sides.”(①).

Nakayama Hokekyo-ji Temple is the main temple of Nichiren school of Buddhism, built in the Kamakura period (1192-1333).

The Soshidō Hall (②), dedicated to Nichiren Daishonin (the founder of Nichiren school of Buddhism), is characterized by a roof that looks like two roofs side by side, and is said to be the only one of its kind in Japan, as well as the main hall of Kibitsu Shrine in Okayama Prefecture.

法華堂 ほっけどう　Hokkedō・ 聖教殿 せいきょうでん　Seikyoden

祖師堂 そしどう の 裏 うら には、 安産 あんざん や 子育 こそだ ての 神様 かみさま である 中山鬼子母神 なかやまきしぼじん や 日蓮宗 にちれんしゅう の 本堂 ほんどう である 法華堂 ほっけどう （④）などが 並 なら んでいます。

Behind the Soshidō Hall are Nakayama Kishimojin, the god of safe delivery and child rearing, and Hokkedō (④), the main hall of Nichiren school of Buddhism.

奥 おく には、 日蓮大聖人 にちれんだいしょうにん の 書 か いたものや 遺品 いひん など 寺 てら の 宝 たから を 入 い れた 聖教殿 せいきょうでん （⑤）があります。

In the back is the Seikyoden (⑤), which contains the temple’s treasures, including writings and relics of Nichiren Daishonin.

蓮 はす の 花 はな　lotus flowers・奥 おく の 院 いん　Okuno-in

桜 さくら の 季節 きせつ には 桜 さくら が 咲 さ き、 裏門 うらもん の 横 よこ にある 亀 かめ がいる 池 いけ には7 月 がつ に 蓮 はす の 花 はな （⑥）が 咲 さ き、きれいです。

Cherry blossoms bloom in the cherry blossom season, and lotus flowers (⑥) bloom in July in the pond with turtles next to the back gate, which is beautiful.

法華経寺 ほけきょうじ から10 分 ぷん ほど 歩 ある くと 奥 おく の 院 いん （ 寺 てら や 神社 じんじゃ の 奥 おく にあって、その 関係 かんけい のある 人 ひと をまつったところ）（⑦）があり、 梅 うめ の 季節 きせつ は 梅 うめ の 花 はな が 美 うつく しいです。（ 写真 しゃしん は 桜 さくら の 花 はな です）

A 10-minute walk from Hokekyo-ji Temple leads to Okuno-in (a place at the back of a temple or shrine dedicated to a person related to the temple or shrine) (⑦), which is beautiful during the plum blossom season. (The photo is of cherry blossoms.)
