梅雨ってなに？
What is “Tsuyu”?
みなさん、梅雨とはなにか知っていますか。
梅雨とは、くもりや雨の日が多くなる時期のことです。
日本ですと、5月末から7月中旬ごろまでが梅雨の時期と言われています。
Do you know what “Tsuyu” is?
Tsuyu is a period when there are many cloudy and rainy days.
In Japan, it is said that the period of Tsuyu is from the end of May to mid-July.
梅雨の時期は、気温が高くなり、外や部屋のなかの湿度も高くなります。
つまり、むし暑くなり、すごしにくい時期となってしまうのです。
During the Tsuyu period, the temperature rises and the humidity inside and outside the room also increases.
In other words, it becomes hot and uncomfortable.

そして、そんな梅雨の時期にどんなオノマトペがあるのかを今回はご紹介したいと思います。

①じめじめ Jimejime
外や部屋のなかの湿気が多く、不快な気持ちになるようすをあらわします。
Expresses a situation where there is a lot of moisture inside and outside the room, making you feel uncomfortable.
- さいきんは雨ばかりふっていて、部屋がじめじめする。
It has been raining a lot recently, and the room is damp.
②むしむし Mushimushi
外や部屋のなかの湿気が多く、そして気温も高く、むしあつい状況をあらわします。
Expresses a situation where there is a lot of moisture inside and outside the room, and the temperature is also high, making it hot and humid.
- 外はむしむししているので、今日は家にいます。
It is sweltering outside, so I am staying home today.
③べたべた Betabeta
物と物がねばりつく状態をあらわします。
Expresses a situation where things stick to each other.
- 汗で体がべたべたする。
Sweat makes the body sticky.
④ぽつぽつ Potsupotsu
よわい雨がふっているときに使います。
Used when there is a light rain.
- 雨がぽつぽつとふりはじめた。
Rain began to drizzle.
⑤ざあざあ Zaazaa
つよい雨がふっているときに使います。
Used when there is heavy rain.
- 朝から雨がざあざあとふっている。
It has been raining heavily since morning.
⑥びしょびしょ Bishobisho
たくさんの水がかかり、服などがぬれてしまったときに使います。
Used when something is soaked with a lot of water, such as clothes.
- 急な雨で、服がびしょびしょになっちゃった。
It rained suddenly and my clothes got soaked.
